Most carbon companies sell offsets. We chose a harder path.
Business travel is one of the top three emission categories for services, IT, and professional services firms. It's complex enough to need dedicated tooling (fragmented data, competing stakeholders, route-level nuance) but concrete enough that the right tools can drive real, measurable change.
Most of the carbon industry takes a different approach: measure everything broadly, then sell offsets. It's straightforward and applies to any sector, but offsets don't reduce emissions - they defer the problem. We believe the climate crisis demands genuine structural reductions, not accounting exercises. That's why we went deep on travel.
What we believe
These aren't marketing lines - they're the principles that shape every product decision we make.
Reductions over offsets
Offsetting is an accounting exercise. Reducing emissions is a structural change. We build tools for the latter.
Cost and carbon aren’t in conflict
The most sustainable travel option is often the cheapest. Our platform helps organisations capture both savings simultaneously.
Complexity simplified, not hidden
Travel data is messy, policies are nuanced, and stakeholder interests compete. We make that complexity legible, not invisible.
Depth over breadth
We don’t cover every emission source. We go deep on travel because specificity is what drives action.
Behaviour change isn’t easy
RouteZero identifies the precise balance of carbon, cost and experience that unlocks better company outcomes.
Leadership
Founded by two people who believe business travel can be decarbonised without compromise.
Dan Brown
CEO & Co-founderHaving seen the challenge of managing travel emissions first-hand while working in large multinational organisations, Dan co-founded RouteZero to bring transparency and accountability to corporate travel data. At RouteZero, he works with enterprise customers to turn sustainability commitments into measurable reductions, embedding sustainable choices into everyday travel decisions to meet the IPCC’s challenge of halving emissions by 2030.
Albie Baker-Smith
CTO & Co-founderWith a background in software engineering, from satellite systems to large-scale data platforms, Albie co-founded RouteZero to tackle a problem where technology can deliver measurable, real-world impact. He leads the platform’s technical strategy, spanning data architecture, emissions modelling, and product design. His primary engineering challenge is building the intelligence layer that makes optimal journeys the natural choice, at scale and without compromise.
Three products, one platform
Understand your emissions, plan better policies, and act at the point of booking. Each product stands alone, and together they cover the full travel management lifecycle.
